The show is called "Billable Hours". It's really not that good but I enjoy it just because of the Starwars references. The one character was planning on watching a Starwars marathon and was a huge Starwars geek. I can relate to this character because I'm a Starwars geek. Okay so it's really stupid criteria for judging entertainment but I'm a geek. What would you expect? I again watch the Empire of Dreams documentary on the creation of the Starwars trilogy and I'm contemplating right now putting Spaceballs on. I'm a little obsessed. And I know people worse then me. Carrie at work is even more obsessed. I'm sure by now I've told everyone that Georgie boy is going to release the original trilogy as it was seen in the 70's and 80's on DVD. This is considered the best version by purist. I'm not a purist. I can watch pretty much any version but I'm happiest with the Special Edition release as most of the work done was a clean up and some special effects. I completely understand the issues with the last DVD release. We don't need to hear "Anikin" every five minutes. I love the references to Starwars in popculture. The episode of That 70's Show where they watch Starwars the first time was my favorite. Simpsons has too many reference to list (particularily Ralphy Wiggums "I bent my wookie" was great). I'm weird. I think I'm done here. I've really acomplished nothing but hey.....uh....chow.

Yours truly,
The Red Night Blogger

Cult Classic: The Undergrads

I just bought the Undergrads on DVD and I'm watching the whole season (all 13 epsisodes). I'm currently as I write this on the "Risk" episode. I love this cartoon. It's hillarious. Great lines and more Starwars references than in "Phantom Menace". I suggest this cartoon for anyone who loves pop culture reference humor. The best episode is the Starwars vs Startrek episode. Anyway I just thought I'd share this with anyone who might read this. It's always been there but this week I've seen it on CNN (which I only watch because of my constant search for stuff that pisses me off), Bill Maher had it in his comedy special on the Comedy Network and it even invaded the sacred Daily Show in the form of an asshole republican who wrote some stupid book. They all have this opinion that every other country doesn't hate the United States, they just wanna be them. It's the most self-rightious bullshit I've ever heard. Being Canadian I can tell you that I definitely do not want to be American. Honestly I don't think I could ever be that pig headed and arrogant (as most of the American public is). About six months ago I saw a special by RickMercer called Talking To Americans. This showed the ignorance of Americans towards other coutries. Actually it was almost scary to think how many people interviewed didn't hesitate when it was suggested to bomb Saskatchewan without knowing where it was. I'm not saying that American's are stupid (although most that Rick interviews definitely are). I'm just saying that they are too absorbed in their own nation to realize that there's more out there. The simple fact is that Americans tend to have this opinion that they invented civilization and that the world couldn't function without them. I'd like to see what would happen in the U.S. if every contribution from other nations was removed from them. Since most of their "inventions" and "technology" couldn't exist without inventions from other countrys, I'm pretty sure that they would be grunting cavemen...which many of them appear to be today anyway. I just with they'd stop thinking that the world revolves around them and start acting like a "part" of the world instead of it's "ruler". Okay I'm done venting. Of course I have no tallent or experience so it's going to be kinda slow, confusing and probably not very good. I've decided to post my progress and ideas on my blog so that people can watch my progress. I procrastinate alot so I probably won't post about it that often. I'm not worried about having my script stolen since I doubt it's worth anyone and if someone did use it I'd only ask that they'd refer to me in the credits, even if it sucked. So here's my film idea. I want to center the entire story around the villain except that you don't know that it's the villain until near the end of the story. Everything will appear to have good intentions and the consequences will not be revealled until the end of the story. I love movies that mess with people's minds. I want the character to be delusional so that he sees an apparition. The apparition will be a manifestation of his concients. And he will pay close attention to the apparation at the beginning of the story but throughout the story he will start to ignore the apparation more and more. It would work best if the apparation was of someone close the character like say a family member. I feel that if the character is male the best choice for a psychologically theme would be a mother or sister. This would help establish a close relationship. I won't reveal that the apparition is an apparation until the end of the story when it's revealled what the character has been doing. Well that's all I can think of for now. I'll post more ideas as they come to me.

Yours truly,
The Red Night Blogger

What Can You Believe?

Well I'm back into my anti-organized religion mode again. I'm not really against the religions themselves. I'm more against the organized part. It's a fact that if you get a group of people who all believe the same thing together and throw in someone who does not believe the same thing, they will either attempt to convert the new person or ostracize them. This is human behavior and it's what in the long run causes wars. This doesn't just apply to older religions. I'm sure just about everyone's seen the South Park episode about Scientology and probably most people have heard the stories of the churches bullying of people. It sickens me. I know many people who refuse to watch anything with Tom Cruise in it because of his recent obsession with anyone who disagrees with his chosen religion. Well that and because (let's face it) he's a nut case who had "auditions" for his wife. I've actually sent an e-mail to the Church of Scientology requesting that they release Katie Holmes, who they are now controlling and will not allow to leave their church (which she only joined because of crazy Tom). I strongly encourage everyone else to send them the same message by clicking here and using their online form. Also a few people at work and I agree that if there is a custody battle between Tom and Katie for their kids, we should start a fund to pay for Katie's legal fees and too bribe the judge (cause let's face it, Tom or someone affiliated with him will be bribing the judge in his favor -- money is power). Also I suggest that everyone check out the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster which makes about as much sense as Scientology or any other religion for that matter. This is where we watch bad movies and make fun of them. The first movie was the pointless and painful "Glitter" with Mariah Carey. What a piece of shit. It was so bad that we had to fast forward through some parts. The most confusing part was the mysterious piece of silver tape that appeared on various parts of her body through out the movie. Why? The second film was my choice. The 1988 remake of "The Blob". Surprisingly it wasn't that bad when compared to Glitter, but it was still pretty bad. As Caleb pointed out it's the template movie for a monster movie, with all the classic character archetypes. If we were to make a movie parody of a monster movie, this would be our model. I have an idea of the next "bad movie" to watch but I can't find it anywhere. Please if anyone knows where I can find "The Stuff" please let me know where.

On another note, I bought a wide angle lens for my camera and it looks really good. It's going to be really useful for making a movie.

Well that's it, chow for now.

Yours truly,
The Red Night Blogger

Huh?

So apparently there's a website that does "fantasy blog share market" statistics. This is kinda like the online geeks version of a fantasy sports team game. I had never heard of it until I googled my page and found that they have my blog listed. Weird since I don't remember submitting a link to them but, in the words of Lennon and McCartney, let it be. Of course I'm a little hurt that I'm not doing to well but what can you expect. I'm not a hard hitting news blog, I'm not controversial and I'm not linked everywhere. Hell I'm not even interesting enough to get what I do get (which I think is some pitty hits from friends). Anyhoo, just thought I'd share it with people. In fact here's a list of pages that I am linked from:

www.blogshares.com
www.expensiveads.com
batcaleb.blogspot.com

And that's about it. I'm not that popular. It was "Let Your Dim Light Shine" by Soul Asylum. I just put it in and from the beginning I'm reminded why I bought this CD. This is a masterpiece of weird. I love it. You have to love a CD that has 2 minutes and 47 seconds of someone sitting in an out house thinking about things ("Just Like Anyone"). It's creative. I just thought I'd share that with whoever might read this. This is atleast in my top 10 (mind you I've never rated my favorite albums before). Of course my tastes have always been unusual (I actually like They Might Be Giants). In an era where are music has become the same stale Brintney Spears/Justin Timberlake manufactured pop, it sometimes pays to go back and listen to what didn't catch on. I've since added the a 2nd page for the Church of Chevrolet with Jeff as the Chevy Messiah. I was at the counter and my bank card was running through the machine but I have a daily limit on my account. I set it up that way purposely because I'm a cash whore. I need limits or I will run my account dry. I tried to go to the bank to get cash but they were close. I guess it gives me time to think about the purchase. I'm pretty sure Monday I'm going to buy the camera anyway. I need it to make my movie. Sure I have no idea what I'm doing making a movie and it will probably look like shit but I really really REALLY wanna make a movie. The camera I was looking at was only consumer level but I can probably make due with it for now. I atleast bought the firewire card for my laptop since I've decide that, even if it's not that camera, I will get a camera. I'm crazy like that.....but I've you've read anything on this page you probably know that already. "WHAT THE FUCK!!!" How can these people live with themselves. This is suppose to be the a happy time of year yet all they do is fight over stupid terminology. To be fair it's not everyone; in fact it's not even the majority. The Christian right is being anti-everything and the liberal left is being way to PC. Is it so hard to say both. Simple fact is that not all of the world is Christian and many other religions have a holiday this time of year. One thing I should establish is how much I can't stand Bill O'Reilly from Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor. He's a hate monger. He makes his money by getting on peoples nerves and promoting hate. His latest thing is his "War On Christmas". Of course this is bullshit. I have only one response I can give to this guy. "Happy Hanukkah asshole!" For everyone else I hope you have a good holiday no matter what you celebrate, be it Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or whatever. There is a group called New Horizons Youth Ministries. This group claims to run boading schools and summer youth camps to help trouble teens however some accounts of what happens at these schools and camps are rather disturbing. Click here and here read a few of them. Most of it is from one person, Julia Scheeres and she is selling a book about it which makes question the legitimacy of it. I find issues with anyone making money of tragedy. However I have not found any acticles defending the New Horizons Youth Minitries of these accusations and I still find the issue disturbing. I truly beleive that a legitimate news source needs to look at this to find the truth. I realize that's not likely but I needed to state it. Why do we let this kinda of thing happen? They have a location in Canada and I do not want this kind of thing happening in my country.

Yours truly,
The Red Night Blogger

A Video Game, An Animated Series, Advertising and A Really Stupid Conversation

Well it's been a while since my last post so I'm just going to get into somethings that have changed.

First I would like to point out that my Supergroup is still active in City of Heroes (although we still have no updates on the web page). Apparently there's a column in the Supergroup mode screen for "last on" that shows when each player has logged in last. I found many of the members have quit (including those running the web page) leaving the oldest player in the group to have played 22 days ago. As such I will be working on a new site for the Canadian Vigilance....just as soon as I get off my ass and do it....give me some time as I am the king of procrastination. What's great is that they have now permitted the maple leaf as a team symbol. Before you had to have some weird leaf ring or something. Also we now have a base (accessible only to players with both City of Heroes and City of Villains installed which I do have). I should mention that this game rocks, for any that have not played it. I personally being sick of the saturation of "fantasy" based games in the market find it extremely refreshing and the fact that you can play casually and still have fun is so much better than in other games where you are eclipsed in 2 days by fanatics and therefore can't play in many teams (go to the site and read about the Side Kick and Examplar modes....a kick ass idea). My villains are coming along slowly. My newest villains is a 1/2 wolf dude that I call Experiment K9. I love that fact that my villains and heroes are on the same server.

On other news Ctrl-Alt-Del (CAD) have make online comics history. They have achieve the ultimate goal. The have an animted series coming out in February. Surprisingly the animation looks smooth and I can't wait to here what Ezekiel, the X-Bot sounds like. To see the teaser trailer click here.

The Bloggicles are now showing up in Google. Hopefully this will help bring traffic my way (so far it's a good thing I don't do this for a living otherwise I'd be screwed). Also I've invested in a new enterprising advertising plan. I'm in on the ground floor of what will be one of the highest traffic pages online. Check out this ingenious idea at the Expensive Ads website (www.expensiveads.com)

As far as work goes I'm actively looking outside of my current place of employment to seek oportunity. It's not so much that I hate my job. Really that doesn't bother me too much. I just need to relocate from this city so that I can live closer to my family.....that I originally move away from because I was sick of them.....there's a fault in my logic somewhere.....regardless I must keep going.

Had an interesting conversation today about extremists. This conversation was definitely not PC and probably would have offended someone. I'm glad no one heard it. We discussed who would win if we put all of the extremists from all religions on a small island (think the size of the island in Cast Away) and gave them a few weapons. Which group would win. The groups that we were putting on the island were Muslim Extremists, Christian Extremists, Catholic Extremists and Jewish Extremist. We probably should have included Nazis and the KKK but technically they aren't a religion. Please note we are not talking about all Muslim and Christian and Catholic and Jewish people; just the extremists that make the world dangerous. The only reason we got into this stupid conversation though was because we were looking at a Christian website that reviewed the "morality" of popular films and TV shows. Some of the comments were good but too many were ritious and biased bullshit. We had a laugh. All of this lead me to one conclusion. I want to make a movie. A "B" movie that will offend everyone. I wanna have the opening of the movie start off with a message that says "This movie was intended to offend all viewers. For those of you not offended we appolize for omitting you and understand if you are offended by this omission." I love stupid and pointless humor. Oh well. I'm done ranting and raving. Chow for now and keep on blogging.

Yours truly,
The Red Night Blogger

I Am A Pervert...I'm Sorry....

Okay so I was just flipping through the TV and stopped at a show on Showcase called "The L Word". The only recognizable cast member I could see was Pam Grier. If you've never seen or heard about it, it's a night time drama that centers on lesbian (did I ever mention my bad spelling?) relationships. Being a guy I stopped because I'm a pervert. Yes I like the idea of two women making out. I'm sure I'll get hit for that. The show definitely has an erotic side to it. What is interesting is that I found myself laughing at a few gags. I don't know if they were suppose to be funny or not. From what I've seen the show has some fun while still covering more serious issues of relationships and discrimination. For some reason I found myself getting interested in some of the characters' personal issues and thinking how I as a guy compound there issues. There was a line where this one girl said to this guy "ask your sisters how it felt to be intruded upon". The guy responds with "how do you know that's ever happened". Her response was a profound "every girl has had that happen". Well damn. Now I felt bad. Okay so it made me think a little. I don't know if I really like the show. Yes I like thought of two women making out. Damn...I can't win this one....I'm a pervert....I'm sorry....

Pictures, Pictures Everywhere.

Well I've put several pictures up on my blog and I've not yet referenced where these pictures come from. I should cover that since I did not make the pictures myself. What follows is a list of the pictures on this blog and the sources, including links to the pages.

To start with we have Fluffy the Destroyer of Worlds (under the Links portion of my blog). This picture is from a random AOL page that I found through Google's image (buddy at work originally show me the picture). There is no actual page just a directory at http://members.aol.com/nray7882/

Next we have the cockroaches sign. I found this while searching through Google. The original page is http://www.funny-stuff.us/

There was a cool picture of a cat that looked drunk that I got again while searching through Google. The orignal page is http://y2u.co.uk/Humour/Fun_Pics/Funny%20Pics%20Animal%2001.htm Because the picture was just linked, the dude who hosts the site changed the original setup so that it doesn't show up on my blog. How rude.

The pumpking for "MMMMMMM....Candy....MMMMMMM" was a picture I found during a google search. I don't remember the original page as I photoshoped out the background.

Elmo was a lucky searh through Google from another unknown source. I added the quote though.

Last is my new addition. The cool illusion (they claim it's an illusion but it could just be a photoshoped picture) is from Weird Spot. I have to warn you not to go to this page while at work or school as it's definitely not a G rated site. It's got some pretty messed up stuff. It has a few rare but good gems though. I put a link to their main page under links. Enjoy and chow.

My Favorites from Atom Films

While talking to Caleb at work he said that he his issue with the Atom Films website was that you had to wait for the advertisements and then the film may not even be any good. I will add more at a later time. Enjoy.

All Amateur Ecsasy -- It actually pissed me off. This chick wants to get laid and ends up thinking she can't get any. I hear voices at night but there's no one else in the house. It's not like they are distinctive voices that I can make words out in, just almost like there's a faint wisper in the next room. I'm crazy and I know it. Someday they'll put me away like I belong. I'd probably be happy that way. Atleast then I won't have to deal with other peoples problems; just my own. I booked two days vacation yesturday for no reason at all. It's not like I need the time off or I'm going anywhere. I'm just sick of going to work every day and putting up with the same bullshit. I work for a company where part of my job is to try to justify why the company does the stupid things it does to other people. It's not pretty when half the time I don't even know the reasons. Sometimes I just make shit up with the reasoning "it sounds logical to me so it must be right". That usually works for the technical stuff but sometimes when it comes down to the business aspect of things I cannot even make up a logical reason with sounding like a complete idiot. Half my job is shovelling bullshit and the other half is listening to someone else shovel it. Ah....the life of the "management stooge". It is a time for kids to dress up like someone else and get candy. I remember Halloween when I was a kid. What came to my mind earlier today was how Halloween for kids had its own economic structure. It had it's own system of supply and demand that determined which candy had more value. Thus we had the candy trade. Everyone can remember the toffee candies that were in the orange wrappers. Almost half of my candy stash was made up of these candies. This was the lowest denomination. Next were the rockets. This actually were a popular candy however because you would get so many of them they were not on the must have list. You could trade several of your rockets and maybe a few toffee candies and get a chocolate bar or bag of chips in return. This basic economic structure existed and was easily comprehended by kids who didn't even know what economics is. I could use this as an opportunity to make a point about the potential of kids however this entry serves one purpose. It's a great opportunity for me to remiss about being a kid again. Happy Halloween and BOO!!!!

Yours truly,
The Red Night Blogger

Muppets Say The Darndest Things

I love to laugh. It's the greatest sensation ever. When I see or hear something that really makes me laugh, I wanna remember it forever. Recently I was flipping through the TV channels and I stopped at a show called Talk Soup. Most of the show was boring however they started to talk about the Martha Stuart show and discussing her guests. In one of the clips her guests was Elmo from Sesame Street and he was talking about a huricane that was on his show. Suddenly dubbed over top of Elmo's voice (poorly I might add) we hear the words "George Bush doesn't care about muppets". I could barely contain myself. It was absolutely hillarious. That was about a week ago and I can't stop talking about it. I think it's one of the funniest lines ever. It was shocking when Kanye West said it and many comedians have tried to make a joke of it but this was by far the best and most original. Keep laughing.

Yours truly,
The Red Night Blogger

I Have A Fan

I've reach infamy! A man kills another man. There's an investigation and a man is arrested. The case goes to trial and the man is found guilty. A reinment hearing is held to determine penalty and the death penalty is given. It's a simple yet complex process and a persons life will hang in the balance.

Before I get into my views of capital punishment, I feel the need to establish the purpose of this form of punishment. The first and often argued purpose is to punish the guilty. This is probably the strongest reason for it. We need to punish the guilty so that they will not commit further crimes. Often when criminals are released from prinson they are not rehabilitated and so commit more crimes. Without the death penalty we need to find a better way to rehabilitate criminals. For this to work we need to study the criminal more closely. We need to understand what makes them tick and what motivates the repeat criminal? Is it psychological or societal? Should we put criminals through better psychological testing, evaluations and therapy? Does society make it too difficult for the "rehabilitated" to become a part of society again? Or should we just say "screw them"? I don't have the answers here. I can tell you that this leads into another reason for the death penalty. Money. To house, feed, clothe and "rehabilitate" criminals cost money. Let's face it. Capital Punishment costs alot less. Money makes the world go round and anywhere you can save a buck it motivation enough for some. People in government will simple ask "where do you expect the money to come from". To be honest I don't have answers here either. Obviously government money is spread thin as it is, that's why politians drive expensive luxury automobiles, yahts and 8 bed rooms summer homes. Next let me get rid of the worst reason; "it says an eye for an eye in the bible". How do I put this in a PC way? Is anyone who uses this argument nuts!?!? Government and religion are "separate", meaning that the bible has NO say in this. I'm not trying to argue against the bible, just in it's place in the law. Yeah, I know; our laws are based on the Ten Commandments. However our laws are suppose to be based on equality too, so please NEVER bring religion into an arguement like this. Another reason is one everyone would deny. Revenge. As much as we would like to beleive that we are an evolved society, we are not. It's hard to deny the anger we feel at criminals, especially those who commit violent crimes. Unfortunately this is a motivator of many human actions, legal or illegal. Although I feel for the victims, we cannot let this be a determining factor in capital punishment. It would be unethical. The last reason that I could come up with for capital punishment is to protect the public. This is connected to other reasons such as poor rehabilitation and money. If rehabilitation worked then when criminals are released the public would be safe. For the criminals that cannot be rehabilitated we could just keep them in prison till they die however that would cost even more money. The tax payer does not deserve to have to pay for it. I wish there was a way to do it for free however that's not possible.

Well I've given some points both for and against above. Some were really good for convincing me however one simple factor will always play in my mind. Man is falible. We make mistakes. To say that we could not make a mistake and put to death an innocent man is naive. If we were that good there would not be criminals to begin with. I realize that extreme measures are taken to ensure that it doesn't happen but it still could happen. The one thought going through my mind is "what if it were me?" I just cannot live with the guilt of agreeing to kill a man (any man) when I have not fully witnessed and completely comprehended the crime. It's been proven that investigators make mistakes and even some can be corrupted. As long as human beings are running the process, we can screw up. It's a simple yet complex process.

Religion in Schools: Deflate the Argument

Seeing as I'm a 26 year old without kids, I really don't have too much say or the need for an opinion on this subject. As such my only opinion on this is about equality in any decision made on this subject. So I will keep it simple. The best reason for no religion in schools is the fact that not everyone beleives in the same religion. How can they teach Christianity in a public school if their religion is Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism or even Atheists? The only way that religion could be taught in schools in a non-biased way would be to teach all of the worlds religions. That definitely is not likely to happen in this life or the next. Let's say I'm wrong and we find a way to jam ALL the world religions into schools (as unlikely as it is). How do we teach this subject matter in a non-biased way. Everyone has an opinion and that includes the educators. I will give the "pro-religion" one argument on their side. Parents definitely need to talk to their kids about religion and the difference between them but this is another unlikely scenario and it still requires the one thing that the "pro-religion" will never allow: other religions taught. This is why we cannot teach religion in schools.

Yours truly,
The Red Night Blogger

Everyone has an opinion. In history having an opinion often meant persecution. Today it's an outlet for discussion and change. The Interent makes it possible for people of all walks of life to express these opinions. Even the poor can walk into a library and express discontent or support of laws, politics, religion, people and entertainment. At times these opinions can be hurtful; other times they can be empowering. Prior to this night I had rolled my eyes at these "bloggers", thinking that only crazy, lonely people made blogs. Obviously I was wrong given the recent media attention that the "blogger" is getting. Blogs have become a true media and the "crazy" and "lonely" people have gained my respect. As such I attempt to join the ranks and invite the thinkers to make me think. With this blog I will cover my opinion of world politics, religion, environment, entertainment and any other subject that comes to my mind. I fully expect people to consider me either unimportant, illogical or ignorant. Truth be told, everyone at one point or another can be describe this way. I am definitely not a professional journal list, as I am sure it is obvious. I encourage people to voice there opinions of my writing so that we all can share ideas, grow and become better people.

Yours truly,
                                                                                                                      The Red Night Blogger
